Reese Witherspoon looked disappointed when she appeared in public for the first time since she announced her separation from her husband, Jim Toth.
According to photos obtained by the Daily Mail, the “Legal Blonde” star was spotted in what appeared to be a serious phone call in Nashville, Tenn., on Thursday.
It was also noteworthy that he did not wear his wedding ring.
It’s unclear what happened with Witherspoon’s tense speech. Page Six reached out to their representatives for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.
For the trip, Witherspoon wore a blue-and-white striped shirt and white jeans.
She paired the look with a pair of sunglasses, a straw hat, tan sandals, a purse, and a belt.
On March 24, Witherspoon and Toth shared with the public that they were quitting days before they were getting ready to celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary.
“With great care and thought, we made the difficult decision to divorce,” said Witherspoon, 47, in a joint statement on Instagram.

The “Big Little Lies” alumni and producer also noted that – despite their separation – “they have had many wonderful years together and have moved forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.”
The ex-couple explained that their “top priorities” are their 10-year-old son, Tennessee, and “their whole family as they navigate the next episode.”
“These issues are never easy and very personal. We really appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy right now.”
Page Six privately reported last week that the couple’s marriage had ended because “zero romance” remained.
Toth and Witherspoon, 52, married at his California ranch in March 2011, after nearly a year of dating.
Shortly after their marriage, the “Cruel Intentions” star gushed about the former Creative Artist Agency executive’s relationship with her two eldest children: Ava, 23, and Deacon, 19, with whom she shares with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.
I was lucky. I did. I was very lucky,” he told Marie Claire in September 2011. “He is very good with children. I am so happy.”
In 2021, Witherspoon took to Instagram to commemorate ten years of marriage to Toth.
“Celebrating 10 years of marriage with my sweet husband,” the “Your Place or Mine” star captioned a photo from their ceremony at the time. “What a special day with our dear friends. Looking back, I can’t believe it went so fast!
