Michael J. Fox celebrated his son Sam’s 34th birthday amid the actor’s worsening battle with Parkinson’s disease.
The 61-year-old “Back to the Future” star captioned a carousel photo on Instagram earlier this week, capturing “Happy birthday to my big bouncing baby @palekidd, you’re the best”.
“I am proud to be your father. I love you!”
In one of the snapshots, Sam was blowing out the candles on his chocolate-covered cake.
Fox and his eldest child were seen posing in front of a waterfall on a boat in another photo.
The “Family Ties” alum then placed a kiss on Sam’s cheek, and the birthday boy smiled gleefully in a third photo.
Fox’s wife Tracy Pollan also celebrated their son’s special day on his Instagram account.
“Happy birthday to the best son ever! You fill my life with so much joy, humor, kindness and random information I never knew! I love you!” captioned an Instagram post that showed Sam riding a horse and a boat with him.
Fox and Pollan, who got married in 1988, are also the parents of 28-year-old twins Aquinnah and Schuyler and 21-year-old daughter Esmé.
The “Spin City” star’s homage to his son comes more than a month after he announced that his more than 30-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, which affects his nervous system and motor skills, has “got harder”.
“[Parkinson’s] knocking on the door… I won’t lie, it’s getting harder. It’s getting harder and harder. It’s getting harder,” the beloved actor told “CBS Sunday Morning” on April 30. “It’s getting harder every day… it’s like that.”

Fox, who was diagnosed with a brain disorder at the age of 29, revealed that since he had surgery to remove a benign tumor in his spine, he has had more trouble walking and has broken multiple bones.
“I was thinking about the death rate… I won’t be 80. I won’t be 80,” he added.
Fox stepped away from acting in 2020 due to his declining health.
