Chilli wasn’t ready to let her love for Usher catch fire.
The TLC singer recently shared that she and the “Confessions” singer remained in touch until 2019, despite ending their much-announced romance 15 years ago.
“I love it so much,” the 52-year-old, whose real name is Rozonda Thomas, told People on Thursday. “’God, why can’t I get over this?’ He couldn’t either, she.”
Chilli said she eventually cut her ex to “focus on myself”.
“I even stopped dating,” he added. “Because before that, I thought if I met the right guy at the time, I wasn’t done. [Usher] it didn’t work. I would never want to ride on the fence.
The “Scrubs” singer told the outlet that she and Usher, 44, have been sporadic for years and would reconnect when they weren’t in other relationships.
However, the “Confessions” singer was married to Tameka Foster from 2007 to 2009 and Grace Harry from 2015 to 2018; that was a year before Chilli and Usher stopped communicating with each other.
Chili and Usher started dating in 2001 and broke up three years later.
That same year, Usher released the critically acclaimed album “Confessions,” which many fans believe is about his infidelity during his love affair with Chilli.

The “Red Light Special” singer revealed in an interview with Us Weekly in 2013 that Usher wasn’t cheating on her.
“We were together when he recorded that album. All the songs in ‘Confessions’ were about Jermaine Dupri’s situation. Usher was just singing. But people kind of embraced it, when the album came out it was just the timing for us to break up,” he explained.
Chilli stated that they broke up “because it was then,” adding that Usher was “true love for me.”
Chilli has now found love again, as she is currently dating “Boy Meets World” graduate Matthew Lawrence.
The four-time Grammy winner gushed about her new romance with Lawrence, 43, telling Page Six in April that it “changed everything in the way I look at relationships.” This is very different.”
Meanwhile, Usher is currently dating Jennifer Goicoechea and they share two kids together: daughter Sovereign, 2, and son Sire, 1. He is also the father of Usher “Cinco” V, 15, and Naviyd Ely, 14 from Foster.
