Once Upon A Time In America comes in a close second to Godfather of all such films. Would only be ignored by someone who’s film knowledge is scant at best.

First of all, composing these Top Lists are very difficult on any subject because everyone has strong opinions and some films impact people in different ways.I am the webmaster of a mafia/crime movie website http://www.contractflicks.com and I agree with the other two comments on this page that the exclusion of Once Upon a Time in America is a big flaw in this list. This is not only a mafia/mob movie masterpiece but one of the best films ever made period. I also see that Godfather II is not included on this list. This movie is the only sequel ever to win the Best Picture and for it not to be included in this list is a serious flaw. Also there is no mention of any original gangster movies such as White Heat and Scarface (1932) is also a big exclusion in this list.
