Top 10 “The Other Sister” of Music

Top 10 “The Other Sister” of Music

Competition among women is actually more common than competition among men. Somehow they manage to always compare their clothes to someone else’s, or their waistline, or their hair, or their boyfriend.

It is rare to find siblings enjoy the same amount of success. Often, there will always be one that will emerge as victor. Below are ten catty media-made up rivalry of some of the sexiest siblings in music.

10. Natalie and Nicole Appleton

WINNER: Nicole Appleton
After the break up of All Saints, Nicole formed a duo with her sister Natalie. They also starred in the same movie. What gives Nicole the edge over her sister is her association with two high profile relationships: Robbie Williams and now husband, Liam Gallagher formerly of Oasis and now of Beady Eye.

LOSER: Natalie Appleton
Natalie disappeared from the limelight soon after reunion of All Saints in 2006. Even during the reign of the group, though, Nicole was the one who got all the attention.

9. Haylie and Hilary Duff

WINNER: Hilary Duff
Let me see. She has been a star even before she grew boobs, she has conquered movies, TV, music, fashion industry and the heart of a hot young professional hockey player. She has sold millions of brands, millions of albums and millions of box office tickets.

LOSER: Haylie Duff
She just really rode on her sister’s success. She did a movie where her sister also starred and sang in her sister’s album.

8. Ann and Nancy Wilson

WINNER: Ann Wilson
Ann is the lead vocals of Heart and she also enjoyed the most success in going solo. Ann sang the duet “Almost Paradise” with Mike Reno in the movie Footloose, “The Best Man In The World”, “Surrender To Me”.
She also appeared on Alice in Chains’ EP Sap, “Brother”, “Am I Inside” and “Love Song”.

LOSER: Nancy Wilson
While Ann is the lead singer on the majority of the Heart recordings, Nancy is the lead vocalist on notable tracks like “Treat Me Well”, “These Dreams”, “Stranded”, “There’s The Girl” and “Will You Be There (In The Morning)” and frequently performs background and harmony vocals. Nancy is the band’s rhythm and lead guitarist.

7. Andrea, Sharon, Caroline Corr

WINNER: Andrea Corr
Being the vocalist of a band really has natural benefits. It’s your face that the public sees, it’s your voice that the public hears and you’re always in front. That’s where Andrea got her edge over her siblings. Although she’s not the most talented of the brood, she’s the most popular. She’s also the only one who is pursuing a solo career. Although her debut album failed to gain commercial success it did get some critical acclaim.

LOSER: Sharon and Caroline Corr
The gap is not that bad really. These siblings are all musically brilliant but they opted to lie low to concentrate on their families.

6. Kylie and Dannii Minogue

WINNER: Kylie Minogue
She first gained success as a teen pop sensation with hits like Locomotion and I Should Be So Lucky. When she started growing up and her music started steering towards a different direction, her popularity declined. But she re-emerged several years later with a more mature, sexy and provocative image. Her songs I Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and Spinning Around became her ticket to her US commercial success, a market she received little recognition on when she was younger.

LOSER: Dannii Minogue
After her initial hits “Love and Kisses” and “This is It”, Dannii has been watered down to being a talent show judge and TV personality. She had several hits in the UK but never achieved recognition nor respect in the US.
