Not every actor or celebrity waited tables while waiting fro their first big breaks. There were others who had crazier gigs. Some jobs were actually “legitimate” or something that you wouldn’t mind keeping for the rest of your life.

Here they are, the craziest jobs celebrities kept before they became, well, celebrities.

10. Matthew McConaughey, Shoveling Chicken Manure


Matthew McConaugey was an exchange student in Australia.

After high school, he decided not to go to college and just shovel chicken manure for a year in Australia.



9. Marlon Brando, Ditch Digger tie with Rod Stewart, Grave Digger


Brando got kicked out of high school for riding a motorcycle in the hallways. There weren’t many options for the yet to be discovered Brando, so he worked as a ditch digger.

I don’t know about you, but it seem like a jobs that’s perfect for one of the greatest actors of all time – rugged and alone in the vast empty space. I dig it.



Rod Stewart, Grave Digger

Stewart failed to get his football career going so he went to the cemetery and started digging graves.

The silence in that place must have helped him come up with some of the greatest tunes of all time. I wonder which ones?



8. Evengeline Lily, Flight Attendant


Evangeline Lilly put in her time as a flight attendant before she got famous.


She also served as a foreign missionary in the Philippines and lived in a grass hut.



7. Orlando Bloom, Clay Trapper


Orlando’s worst job was when he was 13 as a “clay trapper.”

For those that don’t know, a “clay trapper” is the person that sets the clay discs for hunters to shoot. The one bright side was that it gave Orlando time outdoors, which he enjoyed.



6. Jon Stewart, Puppeteer


Jon Stewart was a puppeteer. It’s an amusing job and something that I totally see Jon really getting into.

He used to perform for children with disabilities. I have always like Stewart and knowing this gives me a whole new higher level of respect for him.
