Actors say that no matter the commercial success they may experience, nothing compares to the feeling of winning an Oscar. The credibility that the institution of Academy Awards bring is incomparable.

To have more than one Oscar in a family must be epic. Imagine knowing that your family member has experienced the same high.

10. Fonda Family


Henry Fonda was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in 1940′s The Grapes of Wrath and won for his part in 1981′s On Golden Pond.

Jane, his daughter, won the Best Actress for Coming Home in 1978 and Klute in 1971.

Joel’s wife Frances McDormand won one for Best Actress in 1996 for her role as Marge Gunderson in Fargo.

Composer Alfred Newman won 9 Oscars – The King and I (1956), Camelot (1967), and Call Me Madam (1953), as well as for adapting the songs in such Hollywood musicals as the Betty Grable vehicle Mother Wore Tights (1947), etc.

His brother composer Lionel Newman won an Oscar for Score for Hello, Dolly

Their nephew composer Randy Newman won an Oscar for Best Song for Monsters, Inc.

Alfred’s son composer Thomas Newman is an 8-time Oscar nominee and will be a winner to in the near future.
