The Disney painted witches as the awful looking bad breath creatures. They had hair that never seemed to have been washed in the last ten years, nails that have collected every dust in the atmosphere of every place she has ever step on, and poor fashion taste.

Good thing contemporary Disney and other production houses have repackaged the witches. Nowadays, they are glamorous as vampires. Here are some of the most loved ones.

10. Alex Russo

Show: The Wizards of Waverly Place

Played by: Selena Gomez

At age 16, she is the middle child in the Russo family: younger sister to Justin, and older sister to Max and the only daughter of Theresa and Jerry. Confident in her magic, and undisciplined in using her powers, she is constantly competing with her brothers to keep her powers. Often times her magic is used in such a way that she requires assistance from her brothers, a favor she, at times, needs to reciprocate much to her disdain.

9. Amanda Tucker

Show: Tucker’s Witch

Played by: Catherine Hicks

Apprentice witch (Catherine Hicks) who uses her clairvoyant skills and supernatural spells (which sometimes went awry) to help solve crimes.

8. Mildred Hubble

Show: The Worst Witch

Played by: Fairuza Balk

Mildred Hubble is a major character in The Worst Witch children’s book series by Jill Murphy. Mildred is a good-hearted but bungling young witch-in-training, who never seems to get anything right.

7. Endora

Show: Bewitched

Played by: Agnes Moorehead

Endora (Agnes Moorehead), is the chief antagonist. Like all witches, she never reveals her surname, indicating to Darrin that he would be unable to pronounce it. Endora loathes mortals, and disapproves of Darrin, as do many of Samantha’s relatives. Endora refuses to even use Darrin’s name, alternatively calling him “Durwood,” “What’s-his-name,” “Darwin,” “Dum-Dum,” etc., all much to his annoyance. She refers to him as “Darrin” only eight times during the entire series.

6. Grandmama Addams

Show: The Addams Family

Played by: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

She is a fumbling and weak character who is easily led. She is sometimes seen cooking or playing games with the other family members. Grandmama appeared as a loving (but quite comically insane) maternal grandmother to the Addams children.
