As we all start growing up and, one by one, enter the real world (whatever the fuck that means), the only thing that will make it bearable are several other people who seem to be more miserable than us. If there is anything that made this friendship work is the fact that if you look at each character, they seem to be living in more shit than the next one. Somehow, it brings you comfort.
It also set the tone for all other friendship movies. Forget about contrast, forget about making each character shine… it’s better to make each character just as miserable as the rest of ‘em.
4. Cousin Larry & Balki Bartokomous (Perfect Strangers)
If St. Elmo’s made us cry, Cousin Larry and Balki made us roll on the floor laughing. If you belong to a generation too young to know what this show is about, time to head out and scramble for a DVD because no other BFF can make anyone laugh as hard as this one.
At the end of each episode, they will just make you feel good and that, is what TV friendship should be about.

3. Elliott & E.T. (E.T.)
How many times did we all feel like we didn’t belong? Like no one in this world understands you? Like you should be anywhere but here? Anyone but you? If you’re feeling that way, consult a psychiatrist UNLESS you can manage to find an E.T. friend.
Now, that is some friendship.
The movie industry also owe ET for making friendship between an alien and a human totally cool.
2. Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey & Ross (Friends)
If you miss them, holler with me.
I think they are the only group of friends who managed to make the audience feel like they are part of their friendship too. I don’t know how they managed to do that.
They set the bar so high, I don’t think no one will dare come out with a friendship story on TV and movie in the next decade.

The moment I saw #1, I just spontaneously reacted and say, “WHAT THE….???”. Sam and Bee??? Come on man! Yea it’s cool to have a friendship with a robot. But how can u call it a true friendship? It’s just emotionally w-r-o-n-g. I think F.R.I.E.N.D.S should be #1. No others can show what true and various type of friendships better than FRIENDS.
