Top 10 Most Beautiful 60s Car

Maybe it’s just me… but the 60s cars are beautiful. More beautiful than contemporary ones. The glamor and details of the design highly reflects the glamorous culture of that era.

Below are my favorites.

I wish that car companies bring back the brilliance, sleekness and class of car designs.

10. Buick Riviera (1964-65)

Developed to compete with Ford’s Thunderbird, the Riviera—with its slick side-vents and its assertive front grill—offered the smoothest brand of masculinity going. It’s still considered a design landmark.

I wonder how much this baby cost nowadays?

9. Austin Mini 850 Mark (1963)

Produced by the British Motor Corporation , the original is considered an icon of the 1960s, and its space-saving front-wheel-drive layout (that allowed 80% of the area of the car’s floorpan to be used for passengers and luggage) influenced a generation of car-makers. The vehicle is in some ways considered the British equivalent to its German contemporary, the Volkswagen Beetle, which enjoyed similar popularity in North America.

Funny how The Beatles ended up having the mini as their favorite car instead of the Beetle.

8. Pontiac Firebird (1967)

The bumpers were integrated into the design of the front end and its rear “slit” taillights were inspired by the Pontiac GTO. Originally the car was a “consolation prize” for Pontiac, who had initially wished to produce a two-seat sports car of its own design, based on the original Banshee concept car. However, GM feared such a vehicle would directly compete with Chevrolet’s Corvette, and the decision was made to give Pontiac a piece of the pony car market by having them share the F-body platform with Chevrolet.

7. Cadillac Series 62 Eldorado (1962)

This is what Cadillac called the understated elegance.

There is nothing understated in that for me.

Elvis’ favorite car.

6. Austin-Healey 3000 (1959-1967)

Though it debuted in 1959, the Austin-Healey 3000 (known as the “Big Healey”) is exquisite, curvy, unmistakably British.

Jay Leno has one of these.
