Top 10 Most Successful Failures

It’s an old adage – failure begets success.
It is proven true in this list. Some of the biggest failure humanity has ever witnessed actually fathered the greatest feats humanity has ever experienced.
Here it is – from science to celebrities – the most successful failures of all time.

10. Heroes


Heroes is a part of the generation that was dubbed the golden age of American television. During its launch, a host of other shows with very unique concepts and very good first season launched as well. One of those is Lost.

Unfortunately, the Writer’s strike happened and Heroes is one of the biggest casualties. Finding itself with the original writers of the show all gone, the characters fell apart and the lead stars become nothing more than a ball that rolls when someone else pushes it. It was a like watching a show with a bunch of push overs. The uniqueness of the characters and promise of the global magnitude become nothing more than a distant concept.

They should have blown up New York by the end of the first season.

So why is it on the list? Because this show made us all look at superheroes on TV in a different light. It also made tv executives realize that if you only provide the audience with a quality show, you will get the support that they want.



9. Oasis


Everything that could have gone wrong in Oasis did. The lead singer was not the leader of the band, the leader of the band happened to be the lead singer’s older brother whom the lead singer often hated for being the leader of the band.


They had one great hit in the US and had several chances of conquering it but each time they were at the doorsteps, they always seemed to fall apart.

Noel (the guitarist and leader of the band) and Liam Gallagher (the vocalist and younger brother of Noel) never clicked since Oasis began. They had so much intensity between them as persons that makes them clash in titanic proportions. Their fights were physical and it left marks, physical or otherwise. But it is also the same intensity that makes them great as artists.

They lasted 18 years. Three times longer than their idol, The Beatles. They broke up last year for the third (and it looks like the final one) time.

It was a tragic end. It culminated with Liam breaking Noel’s guitar and Noel hurting Liam.

But they left the world with some of the greatest songs mankind will ever hear.



8. Chris Daughtry


I think this is the biggest upset in American Television. Daughtry was the crowd favorite and when it came down to him and that girl (I don’t even remember her name), I was so sure the girl was out.

I was so wrong.

Daughtry went home as a fourth placer but he is also the third most successful Idol alumnus behind Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.

He already has several number one hits under his belt including Home and What About Now? When is the Grammy coming Chris?



7. Legion


There are very rare instances when I get excited over the concept of a movie primarily because Hollywood has made a habit of making thrash instead of films.

Legion is one of those movies I expected to leave me thinking for days.

In all fairness, it did… for disappointment. The concept was so promising – God has lost faith in men and sent his angels to wipe the world of humans but one of his angels disagree.

It was great… until angels possessed humans and became zombies and a baby became the last hope of humanity without explanation and Michael fighting Gabriel…

However, I included it in the list because I believe it signals a beginning of an idea that deserves to be explored – what if God is wrong?



6. The Beatle s Apple Retail Shop


The store was to sell psychedelic fashion in support of the psychedelic look the band was supporting when the store opened. To complete the package, the band decided to paint the inside and outside of the store with psychedelic images. The problem was that it made the other stores in the same building looked like gradma’s kitchen. They became plain looking. The other stores protested the painting that forced The Beatles to pain the store plain.

However, it started a slew of problems for the band that lead to the store’s closing after several months.

Despite its failure, it is the very first concept store in the whole world.
