Top 10 Martial Artists on the Big Screen

5.Steven Seagal

Though Steven Seagal initially started his martial art training under a karate instructor, he was quickly attracted by the strength and spiritual nature of Aikido. He used the same fighting style even in his movies that made a pleasant contrast to the kicking and striking styles used by Bruce Lee or Jean-Claude Van Damme.

4. Jet Li

Jet Li has been a Wushu world champion many times but movies have always been his calling. After acting in a few movies in China, he decided to find a wider audience by coming to America. With ‘Romeo Must Die’ and ‘Kiss of the Dragon’, Li is now one of the world’s most prominent martial art stars.

3. Jackie Chan

After Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan today is probably one of the most well-known and highly successful martial art stars on the scene. While his rags to riches story makes for some compelling reading, what is more interesting to see is the way his fighting style evolved over the years. To create an image separate from that of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan played characters that were more affable, even goofy at times. Further, in what soon became his trademark, he would use improvised weapons such as chairs, doors and even ladders.

2. Jean-Claude Van Damme

When Jean-Claude Van Damme first made his foray into movies, he held a phenomenal record in kickboxing tournaments with 18-1, full-contact knockouts and 12-1, semi-contact knockouts. His martial training and skills along with his good looks and the impressive high-flying kick soon earned him hordes of fans and his movies starting with ‘Bloodsport’, starting bringing in more and more money.
