Top 10 Funniest Comediennes

They say a guy with a great sense of humour is hard to say no to. That’s why funny men get the hottest girls.

But I am not really sure how it works if the girl is the one who is funny. Do they get the hottest guys? Can guys handle a girl who is funnier than they are?

Here are the funniest of them. Do you find them hot?

10. Paula Poundstone

She is number 88 on Comedy Central’s 2004 list of the 100 greatest stand-ups of all time, and number 7 on Maxim magazine’s list of “Worst Comedians of All Time.”

She never really broke into mainstream. She has, instead, established herself in stand ups. In her memoirs she wrote:

I am not, at this time, a virgin myself, but I don’t like sex, so I abstain, which should certainly be at least a cousin to virgin, perhaps deserving something in an honorary title. Should I become a beloved hero in my time, my followers could refer to me as “virginish.” …The idea that I’d get to my bed and there’d be someone in there with whom I was supposed to have an activity is horrifying to me. It’s a safe bet that I’m not good at sex, that I do it wrong.

9. Tina Fey

Fey started as a writer in SNL. She later became the headwriter. After leaving the show, she created a TV show 30 Rock loosely based on her experience as the Headwriter of SNL. This is what cemented her place as one of the greats.

Her popularity took a level up when she went back to SNL to parody the then Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin. Her exemplary and totally funny performance put her name in everyone’s consciousness.

8. Madeline Kahn

Her comedic roles in films such as Paper Moon; Young Frankenstein; Blazing Saddles; What’s Up, Doc?; and Clue became her Hollywood badge.

Her timing is impeccable and she is a natural at being funny. She claims she doesn’t try to be funny and gives much credit to director Mel Brooks in bringing out the best of her comedy.

7. Tracey Ullman

Ullman is consistently funny.

From the time she started her career in the UK where she was born, she has always managed to make a name for herself. When she moved to the US, she continue to make her own shows. She has a long standing partnership with HBO, Oxygen and Showtime.

6. Phyllis Diller

She created a stage persona of a wild-haired, eccentrically-dressed housewife who makes jokes about a husband named “Fang” while pretending to smoke from a long cigarette holder. Diller’s trademark is her unusual laugh.
