you forgot “We Were Soldiers”
The only two battles listed above that was based on real events are #5 & #7. In SPR they took first hand accounts from the six hour Omaha Beach landing and consolidated them into the scene. It is the most realistic, and by far the most “epic” battle scene ever produced. In Tora*3 they attempted to recreate the battle as accurately as possible, and given the technology at the time, it was fantastic.
The Battle of Stirling Bridge didn’t even closely resemble what was portrayed in Braveheart (it was fought at an actual bridge where the English forces were bottlenecked).
The Gladiator scene was a joke compared to Saving Private Ryan.
Um, the battle in The Patriot was patterned after Cowpens, not Guilford.
thanks for the heads up… fixed!
There were elements from both Cowpens and Guilford Courthouse. Still good though.
you forgot 300
I’d have included the closing battle scene from “We Were Soldiers..” It was strictly fiction, but it was great.
