There used to be a time when rockstars were accused of being non-musicians… and demonic… and useless… and so many things. But through the years, the world has become a witness to some of the greatest voices to have ever come across rock and roll that motivated the world to listen… and through those voices they started understanding that there really is something more there. More than the attitude, there is music.
Here are some men singers with the eeriest voices.
10. Kelly Jones
Aside from his famous or infamous quotes to express hatred towards the media’s continuous dirty commercialization of music, Jones is famous for his perfect husky voice. He sounds like a real rock star. In fact, he doesn’t sound like anything else but a rock star. There is something truly badass about his voice but consoling at the same time.
He is nowhere near a tenor but when he belts out the high notes, he gets there only with a rough tone that puts your emotions in the same rough path.
9. Paul Weller
Paul Weller was born to rock. There is nothing… absolutely nothing else he is meant to do but this.
He has got the vibe of a true badass rockstar that can flip any song to a tune that can make you feel like, well, rockin’. He always sounds rough. I can never imagine him doing any song any other way because his voice is perfect for rock and roll.
8. Kurt Cobain
Kurt’s voice defined grunge and it is grunge.
It is not something you can consider smooth. He always sound tentative and maybe that has always the right way to describe his career. He seems tentative to submit into greatness even when he knew he was headed towards it. He seems scared to embrace the very idea he hated and it is evident in his songs.
He is already great but when you listen to him, you will get a sense that he has more to give but refuses to do so.
7. Michael Stripe
I don’t really know how to describe Michael Stripe’s voice but I am pretty sure his voice is the most commercial.
He has catapulted hits like Losing My Religion and The One I Love that have defined an entire generation.
6. Dave Matthews
Two decades of music. Man, that must say something about his band’s greatness and his voice’s timelessness.
