Robin Williams is a joke thief…he has no right to be on any list. Nor does Dane Cook, Dennis Leary, or Carlos Mencia.
I would have Louis C.K. on here, as well as Redd Foxx. Tough call though, as far as the order. I wouldn’t have Cosby on there.
But, Carlin is by and large the best ever. I don’t imagine anyone else will replace him. He was not only hilarious, but his social criticism was unparalleled. His mastery of noticing bizarre, illogical euphemisms was astounding. His deliveries were impeccable. I wish could sacrifice the lives of Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia, and all the members of Creed to bring George Carlin back to life so he could keep making comedy for 200 years.
Dane Cook is hilarious and a “rock star of the comedian world” When he tells jokes people don’t laugh, they scream his name. So in the words of Dane Cook “I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU”

What??? why are these all yanks. Where are the ones from the rest of the world, like the brilliant scottish comedian Billy Connely and other great legends amongst standup. This is obviously been made by an American who has not seen a wide enough range of standups to give a decent list of great stand ups. Although i agree the standups on this list are deserving enough to be labelled great comedians.

Lots of these lists miss the best cuz they the people making them aren’t familiar with the greats from the past. This list is really good but I’d add RUSSELL PETERS. Ranked by Forbes as one of the top ten highest grossing comics in the U.S., in 2009 and 2010. My homeboy knows how to do it, and one of the few who does it with class.
