Top 10 Celebrity Suicide and Suicide Notes

I do not condone suicide.

I have to admit, though, I am fascinated with people trying to take their own life because I can never really truly and fully understand it. I don’t think anyone can, really, that’s the tragedy.

10. Ray Combs

April 3, 1956 – June 2, 1996

Ray Combs was a comedian, tv show host and actor. He hosted Family Feud. His decline started when his show got canceled following the decline of its ratings.

On June 1, 1996, police got a report that Combs destroyed his house and has been banging his head against the walls. Debbie, Combs’ estranged wife, told police that Combs was suicidal. Combs was sent to the psychiatric ward of Glendale Adventist Medical Center and placed on a 72-hour suicide watch.

The next day, he hanged himself with bed sheets in his hospital room at Glendale Adventist Hospital while on a 72-hour “suicide watch”.

9. Kurt Cobain

February 20, 1967 – April 8, 1994

One of the most publicized suicide of all time. Kurt Cobain was very sickly as a child and was a rock and roll superstar as an adult. His body was discovered by an electrician. The electrician was trying to go in to do some repairs but no one was answering the door so he peaked through the window and saw what he thought was a mannequin. He realized it was a body when he noticed a patch of blood. When the police got in, the shotgun was still pointed at his chin and a suicide note written in red ink resting on a nearby counter.

(Last part) Frances and Courtney, I’ll be at your altar. Please keep going Courtney, for Frances for her life will be so much happier without me. I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU.

8. Freddie Prinze

June 22, 1954 – January 29, 1977

Freddie Prinze Senior was discovered by Johnny Carson and co-starred in the tv sitcoms, Chico and The Man. Prinze also took his act on the road. However, his wife initiated divorce proceedings. They had a 10-month-old son, Freddie Prinze Jr. His old manager sued him for breach of contract and won.

On 28 January 1977, under the influence of Quaaludes, cocaine and alcohol, Prinze shot himself in a hotel room in front of his manager. Despite a suicide note, his death was ruled to be a prank that went awry. His widow and young son received close to a million dollars in settlements after winning malpractice suits filed against Prinze’s doctor, for over-prescribing quaaludes, and his psychiatrist, for letting him handle the gun which eventually killed him.

Suicide Note:
I must end it. There’s no hope left. I’ll be at peace. No one had anything to do with this. My decision totally.

7. Lupe Velez

July 18, 1908 – December 13, 1944

Lupe Velez’ death had a lot of undocumented side to it. She was dressed in a very nice outfit and took her pills. She took some alcohol until she felt sick so she rushed to the bathroom. She tripped and fell to the toilet where she drowned. She left two poignant notes detailing tales of unrequited love and expectant motherhood.

Suicide Note:
To Harald, may God forgive you and forgive me too but I prefer to take my life away and our baby’s before I bring him with shame or killing him, Lupe.

6. Kiyoko Matsumoto

She was not a celebrity when she was alive, she become one after she died.
February 12, 1933, athe 21-year-old student, Kiyoko Matsumoto, jumped into the crater of Mount Mihara, a volcano on the island of Izu Ōshima, Japan.

A total of 944 people (804 men, 140 women) imitated her act of leaping into the crater over the course of one year
