Top 10 Biggest Celebrities Who Lost On Talent/Reality Shows

Most modern talent competitions (if not all) in US and UK rely on the viewers to decide who should be eliminated and who should win the competition so it is puzzling to realize that some of the biggest names to emerge from talent competitions lost.

So, my guess is that the viewers of talent shows are not necessarily the people who buy the records and that there is something wrong with the viewers/judges.

Here are the top 10 losers who eventually became winners in their professional career.

10. Chris Daughtry


He is the third Idol best selling artist and best selling idol losing artist. He has come out with two albums and both hit the multi platinum mark. Its first single “It’s Not Over” reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.The second single “Home” peaked at #5. The third single, “What I Want” peaked at number 6.

Leave This Town debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 selling 269,000 copies in its first week. It also became the biggest selling rock album of the year.



9. Kara Saun


“Project Runway” catapulted Kara Saun into her new role as a TV costumer and designer to the stars. She currently creates wardrobe for “America’s Best Dance Crew,” and dressed the cast of “True Beauty” and “What I Like About You,” starring Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth. She also gave the Cheetah Girls their look on their 2008 world tour. In addition, Kara designs custom fashions for high-end Hollywood clients, including Heidi Klum, Vanessa Minnillo, Vanessa Williams, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Eddie Murphy, Lil’ Kim, and Snoop Dogg.



8. Charice Pempengco


Charice joined a talent competition in her native land, Philippines and lost. A Korean show saw her and invited her over to perform. The Korean producers uploaded her performance on YouTube. That is the video that Ellen De Generes saw. Ellen invited Charice to perform. Oprah saw her performance and invited her over. Oprah was so impressed that she eventually ended up managing Charice’s career to date.



7. Justin Timberlake


Before Justin brought the sexy back, he lost in Star Search after singing a country song.



6. Kaitlyn Maher


Kailyn Maher won the heart of America the minute she stepped on the stage to sing for America’s Got Talent. Since she was being judged with the same criteria being used with mature contestants, she eventually lost but her career went into full swing with a record already out, several live performances and advertising projects.
