5. Jack Nicholson in The Witches of Eastwick
Jack Nicholson plays the lunatic roles best – The Shining and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. His Darryl Van Horne or the Devil part in The Witches of Eastwick is a different take in lunacy. It is constrained and controlled, mysterious and oozes with wild sex appeal.
Daryl Van Horne: I always like a little pussy after lunch.
Daryl Van Horne: Do you think God knew what He was doing when He created woman? Huh? No shit. I really wanna know. Or do you think it was another one of His minor mistakes like tidal waves, earthquakes, FLOODS? You think women are like that? S’matter? You don’t think God makes mistakes? Of course He does. We ALL make mistakes. Of course, when WE make mistakes they call it evil. When GOD makes mistakes, they call it… nature. So whaddya think? Women… a mistake… or DID HE DO IT TO US ON PURPOSE?
4. Peter Stormare in Constantine
The devil in white, so angry that Constantine is about to slip through his fingers, he pulls Constantine’s cancer from his lungs, forcing him to live his lonely life rather than be taken into heaven. Now, that’s evil.
Satan: This world is mine – in time.
Satan: [his last lines] No. You will live, John Constantine. You will live so you will have the chance to prove that your soul truly belongs in hell. Oh, you will live. You will live.
3. Al Pacino inThe Devil s Advocate
John Milton: A woman’s shoulders are the front lines of her mystique, and her neck, if she’s alive, has all the mystery of a border town. A no-man’s land in that battle between the mind and the body.
John Milton: I’m here on the ground with my nose in it since the whole thing began. I’ve nurtured every sensation man’s been inspired to have. I cared about what he wanted and I never judged him. Why? Because I never rejected him. In spite of all his imperfections, I’m a fan of man! I’m a humanist. Maybe the last humanist. Who, in their right mind Kevin, could possibly deny the twentieth century was entirely mine.
John Milton: Let me give you a little inside information about God. God likes to watch. He’s a prankster. Think about it. He gives man instincts. He gives you this extraordinary gift, and then what does He do, I swear for His own amusement, his own private, cosmic gag reel, He sets the rules in opposition. It’s the goof of all time. Look but don’t touch. Touch, but don’t taste. Taste, don’t swallow. Ahaha. And while you’re jumpin’ from one foot to the next, what is he doing? He’s laughin’ His sick, fuckin’ ass off! He’s a tight-ass! He’s a SADIST! He’s an absentee landlord! Worship that? NEVER!
John Milton: Freedom, baby… is never having to say you’re sorry.
John Milton: Free will. It’s like butterfly wings: once touched, they never get off the ground. No, I only set the stage. You pull your own strings.
2. Rosalinda Celentano in The Passion of the Christ
She didn’t talk much. She just carried the baby around and with her taunting eyes, seduced Jesus.
