If music is religion, these bands are the gods.

They are the good boys of rock and roll.

They rock, they curse in their lyrics, they say the f word in interviews but that is the extent of their “bad boy” genes. They diss nobody, if they do criticize others, they do it constructively, they don’t subscribe to the ‘I’ll destroy the hotel, I’m a rock star attitude’, their private lives are private.

Boring? You judge.

10. Slipknot

They have been very critical of commercialism but come on, that’s not being bad. They just hate commercialism. They are actually “victims” of it because they have sold millions of records.

Despite their black attire, gory masks, hardly comprehensible lyrics, they don’t really get into fights with anyone. They don’t talk shit about anyone or anyone’s ideology. They just… mind their own business.

They even expressed gratitude to the Grammy’s when they got one.

9. Jon Bon Jovi

Alright, before you talk shit about Bon Jovi, stop. I ain’t here to discuss if they really are a rock band or not.

They have been dissed and insulted by so many bands out there – newbies and veterans alike but they never talked back.

What’s more? They are still together after decades of rockin’ it.

Hmmm, at least half of the band admitted to cheating on their wives. I dunno… cheating?

8. The Beach Boys

One of them had a lunacy attack of some sort but that’s hardly being bad.

Their music is peachy sweet. No rumbles, no punching paps.

They just might cure me of insomnia… unless they start using their lunacy as an excuse to destroy every stop sign in the U.S. and piss on stage in the middle of his performance?

7. Dave Matthew Band

This is one of those bands that have stood the test of time. Alright, you can’t call them the hard rockin’ band that people swarm to when they walk the streets but man, do they make some good music.

They are still intact and there has been no news about in-band squabbles or shit like that. They make music, they sing, they do their awesome thing and then they go home to their families.

Come on Dave, you’ve been around for two decades. If that is not a free pass to commit at least one DIU, I don’t know what is.

6. Eagles

Even when they broke up no one said anything bad about anyone because there was nothing bad about anyone.

When they were apart, they remain friends and when they felt like they were ready to rock, they went back to each other.

You’ve never heard about them dissing each other or dissing other people. No incidents of collapsing on stage because they were too high to play. No moments of hitting the fans with charis or their musical instruments.

They’re good guys… well, except that Hotel California song that practically screams “long live hell!”.

I am not saying these celebrities are bad parents. I’m saying, like all of us, they also have so moments of bad parenting.

Here are some of those crazy moments. I do hope it doesn’t happen everyday.

10. Joan Crawford

Joan Crawford disinherited her adopted child Christina with the famous line “It is my intention to make no provision herein for my son Christopher or my daughter Christina for reasons which are well known to them.” Christina came out with a book titled, Mommie Dearest which told stories of abuse and neurosis.

Christina talked about her mother’s alcoholism, perfectionism and possible bipolar disorder. Crawford, allegedly, had violent rages.

9. Britney Spears

Britney Spears had several misjudgment and it is unfortunate that a lot of it have been caught by the cameras. She tripped and almost dropped her son, Jayden James, while holding a beer on the other hand, driving while his son’s car seatbelt was not properly buckled and driving with her son her lap.

Spears divorced Kevin Federline when Jayden was not quite two months old, and they have been in custody circus since. After Spears’ public breakdowns, the court has granted full custody to Federline.

8. James Brown

James Brown, Godfather of Soul, forgot to include his youngest child, a five year old, in his last will and testament. He died of complications of pneumonia in 2006. He had a complicated family life.

He had six children from three marriages, and one five-year-old son (James Brown Jr.) from his controversial fourth marriage to Tomi Rae Hynie.

His will was written before the birth of his youngest child. Under South Carolina state law, a child born after the date of the last will still has some rights to inherit – but young James Jr.’s claim was rapidly tied up in lawsuits and paternity tests.

7. Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger have been going through a bitter custody battle over their daughter, Ireland. The couple divorced in 2002 after nine years of marriage. The 2007 voice-mail message was the climax.

In the voice message, the actor calls his daughter “rude, thoughtless little pig.” Baldwin got so mad after her daughter switched her phone off when they were supposed to have a scheduled talk. In the same tape, Baldwin calls his ex-wife Basinger “a thoughtless pain in the ass,” and said he will “straighten your ass out”. He also said “Once again, I have made an ass of myself trying to get to a phone… You have insulted me for the last time…This crap you pull on me with this goddamn phone situation that you would never dream of doing to your mother, and you do it to me constantly over and over again.”

6. Lana Turner

Lana Turner had a relationship Johnny Stompanato, an ex-Marine who was violent and jealous. Two years of abuse and by April 4, 1958, she told him that their relationship was over – the two got so violent that 14-year-old Cheryl Crane grabbed a kitchen knife and ran into the room to protect her mother. Stompanato was fatally injured.

It was later deemed a justifiable homicide. The troubled girl grew up to have a successful career in real estate, and later formed a good relationship with her mother.

There is nothing that can bind a friendship stronger than a crime.

Thelma & Louise is a 1991 American road movie directed by Ridley Scott. It is all about two friends who are trying to run away from their troubled, caged lives. It stars Geena Davis as Thelma and Susan Sarandon as Louise. It was a critical and commercial success.

More importantly, it tackled how dysfunction can actually be the root of a strong friendship. It made the public understood how troubled people actually forge a strong community.

Beating a fan… fighting with other bands… destroying the guitars… those are pretty much a routine for rock bands. So let’s talk about other outrageous things rock stars do on stage.

And when I say outrageous, I mean, it’ll take you several seconds to believe it actually happened.

10. Jimi Hendrix sets guitar on fire.

The Beatles were well-behaved during the height of their fame. At one point, George Harrison said they were the Spice Girls of their time. Maybe.

Jimi Hendrix was the exact opposite. He started the “rock theater” phase. One of his most popular antics was setting his guitar on fire on stage. Then, he slammed it around until nothing was left of it.

9. Sid Vicious and Marilyn Manson

I almost didn’t include these two because their regular gigs were regularly outrageous. However, we can’t exclude them in this list just because they have turned it into habit, right? Besides, I don’t want you guys to curse me for skipping their badassery.

Sid, was deep into drugs from the beginning of his career ‘till its end. At one point, he was so high on drugs, he just slept on stage.

On the other hand, Marilyn Manson cut himself, in the nipple area in particular.

8. Eric Clapton does a concert lying down.

Eric was a heroine addict in the 60s. According to Patty Boyd, his ex wife, it started when he fell in love with her but she was still married to George Harrison of The Beatles. To force her into being with him, he threatened to take heroine.

He called his own bluff. When she refused to go with him, he started taking drugs until he was so deep into it, he couldn’t stop even when she was already with him. Despite his addiction, he remained flawless in his music that at one point, he did an entire concert lying down.

He managed to go down to alcoholism when he stopped taking drugs though. Unfortunately, there is no video of that concert but he did talk about it in on his interviews.

7. Mike Patton of Faith No More eats a shoelace and asks the audience to spit on his mouth.

He did so many outrageous things such as urinate on the audience, spit on the audience, beat up an audience, ate the shoelace of an audience, and took his clothes off. He set the bar high.

Surprising because I didn’t really know of this band until today and if you look at this guy, he doesn’t look deranged.

6. Jim Morrison exposes his crotch.

Jim Morrison took the stage at Miami’s Dinner Key Auditorium, mumbled his way through a couple songs and realized that the audience was getting bored and frustrated with his awful performance. To make up for it, he said, “Do you wanna see my cock?”

The rest, as they say, is rock & roll history. The incident was hyped up and the Miami D.A. charged Morrison with a felony count of “lewd and lascivious” plus three misdemeanor counts including indecent exposure.

Morrison didn’t regard the incident with any importance, he would rather comment on his haircut.

I know that Saturday Night Live does a lot of impressions so I didn’t include them in the list.

10. Justin Timberlake does a John Mayer

Justin’s comic side is one thing that is not known to many. He is a fun and funny guy who does not really take himself too seriously.

He did an impression of John Meyer. The voice was perfect and the facial expressions just floored me. I don’t really like his music but I like his comedy. I have new found respect for JT.

9. Dane Cook does a Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise’s infamous couch jumping has been made fun of so much that it already made me sick. Besides, I don’t think it could be funnier than the original anyway.

Well, I was wrong. Dane Cook did.

8. Jim Carrey does a David Caruso of CSI

I like CSI Nevada. I like the cases and the actors and the direction and that whole “we’re the original” kindda thing.

I also like CSI Miami because David Caruso makes me laugh. I think he is a respectable actor but he simple overdoes his part on this one. Really distracts me from the great cases they are dealing with.

I hope he watched Jim Carey’s impression of him just as so he could tone it down. I still love CSI Miami though.

I knew he was a good actor. I didn’t know he could do funny impressions.

Man, his impression of Al Pacino and Marlon Brando is one of the best I have ever seen.

There really are some actors that is just funny to copy because of their unique voice and unique mannerisms. Those are the things that make them stand out among the crowd.

It is out… the commandments that rockstars don’t want us to discover.

They all follow the ten commandments brought down from Mt. Rock and Roll. These are the commandments you shall abide by if you want to become a – ROCKSTAR.

10. Thou shalt wear sunglasses at all times… especially indoors

Sunglasses aren’t there to protect your eyes from the bright rays of the sun… it is there to protect you from the blinding brightness of your rock and roll career. Mere mortals will never understand that so don’t pay attention if they think you’re a homeless blind man.

Wear it, my child. Wear it proud.

9. Thou shalt wear leather jackets at all times… I don’t care if it’s hot

Make sure you have hundreds of leather jackets and you wear them all the time. I know stage light is hot and the sun is up… but you’re so cool, you’ll freeze solid of your own coolness. So wear ‘em.

8. Thou shalt have a unique beginning

It is necessary that you get discovered in a really unique way. If it didn’t happen, it would be necessary to invent it.

Get a professional scriptwriter to make one up for you. Without a unique beginning you will not have a unique end. So don’t be shy… just lie.

7. Thou shalt have a rival

There should be a yin yang kindda thing going on. If the other band chooses to take the higher road and be modest about it, bully them endlessly. Threaten to kill them, taunt them whenever you know you will see them in an event, tell everyone you wish they’ll get aids and die drowning from their own puke.

Now, if the other band does this… well, outdo them.

6. Thou shalt fight with your bandmates

Make your fights public. Make sure that the paparazzis are around or at least someone will take a photo and video of your fights. It is also a must to put them on youtube.

Now, it would be better if your make fights physical. Hit each other with guitars or baseball bats or whatever you can get your hands on. Do this several times. Preferably, this should lead to your band’s break up.
